Revenge From Mars In 3D
Game History
Revenge From Mars is a pinball machine released in 1999 by Bally and manufactured under the Midway label. It was designed by George Gomez and was the first and only game to utilize the Pinball 2000 platform, which merged traditional pinball with video projection technology.
The Pinball 2000 platform was revolutionary for its time, featuring a head unit with a monitor that projected video images onto the playfield, creating a hybrid gameplay experience that combined physical pinball with interactive video elements. This innovation allowed for dynamic targets and gameplay scenarios that would change and adapt based on player actions.
Revenge From Mars had a science fiction theme where players defended Earth from an alien invasion, with the video projection system creating animated alien targets and spacecraft that would interact with the physical ball. The game featured six alien saucer modes and a final "Battle the Mothership" mode, which served as the game's wizard mode.
Despite its technological innovation, Revenge From Mars was a commercial failure, with only about 3,000 units produced before Midway exited the pinball industry in 1999. The game's failure was attributed to several factors, including its high production costs, the declining pinball market at the time, and the fact that it was released just as the company was ceasing pinball production.
