Pac-Man Battle Royale
Game History
Pac-Man Battle Royale is a competitive multiplayer arcade game developed by Namco Bandai Games as part of the 30th anniversary celebration of the Pac-Man franchise. Released for arcades in January 2011, the game transforms the classic Pac-Man formula into a four-player battle royale experience where players compete to be the last Pac-Man standing. The game features up to four players controlling differently colored Pac-Men (yellow, red, pink, and blue) who navigate dynamic mazes that regenerate after clearing pellets, with the objective of eliminating opponents while avoiding ghosts.
The gameplay introduces a competitive twist to the traditional Pac-Man mechanics, rather than traditional scoring, points are based on how many rounds each player wins. Pac-Man Battle Royale was later included in Pac-Man Museum and Pac-Man Museum+ for home console play, and inspired several follow-up games including Pac-Man Party Royale, Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle, and Pac-Man 99.
